I couldn't help but notice that you said, " ...and drilling out the brass screw come winter time." I hope you mean the COVER over the brass screw. The screw is the low speed mixture adjustment.
Have you taken the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Rider Safety Course? It's GREAT, and worth every penny! You get to practice things that you hope you never have to do in traffic.
